Raúl Jarquín Sesma is a photographer who spent most of his adult life in the United States and now lives in Spain, where he was born. When he raises the camera, he often feels like an outsider looking in, someone trying to understand the world and record evidence of what he experiences and discovers. His work moves across different subjects, from interpretations of space and scale in large environments to images that explore the human condition and perception. He is particularly interested in how photographs can open up questions about how we relate to the world and to each other.

Over the years, his photography has been featured in The Washington Post and National Public Radio, shown at auction at the Corcoran Museum in Washington, D.C., and exhibited in multiple galleries throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. His work has been acquired by public institutions, including the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the Washington DC Convention Center, as well as by private collectors.
